How to play 4 square

  1. Server bounces ball, then hits it underhand to any square.  
  2. The ball must bounce only once in the square and then that player hits it to another square.  
  3. The ball must bounce before being hit to the next square.  
  4. The ball must be struck with an open hand.  
  5. Waiting players line up 3 feet or 1 metre from the game.  
  6. Stepping on or over the line is a foul, causing the player to be out (except when stepping out of your own square).  
  7. Players rotate towards square A.
  8. Only the person who is "out" leaves the game.
  9. New players enter at square D.  
  10. Square A is always the server.  
  11. If the ball hits on a line, it is an out for the hitter.
  12. If the ball is made to bounce over an opponent's head, it is an out for the hitter.
  13. The Positions in four squares are King, Queen, Jack and Toilet.
Things you need to play four square

  1. You need a piece of chalk
  2. A very bouncy ball like a soccer ball, volleyball or tennis ball.
  3. With the chalk,  draw a big square and then divide the big square into four squares.
  4. Line Master/ referee
