New Zealand History

Task: Write an explanation or Explaining what the Treaty

Of Waitangi is and how important it is to Aotearoa.

Make a word count, 250 to 300 words.

What is the Treaty Of Waitangi?

The Treaty Of Waitangi is a treaty first signed on 6 February 1840

by representatives of the British Crown and Maori chiefs from the

North Island of New Zealand. The Treaty Of Waitangi is the founding

document of New Zealand. It is an agreement entered into by a representative

of the Crown of Maori iwi and hapu. Treaty was not drafted as a constitution

or a state. It was a broad statement of principles upon which the British officials a

nd Maori chiefs made a political compact to find a nation state and build a

government in New Zealand to deal with pressing new circumstances.

How important is it to Aotearoa?

The treaty promised to protect Maori culture and to enable Maori

to continue to live in New Zealand as Maori. At the same time, the

Treaty gave the crown the right to govern New Zealand and to represent

the interests of all New Zealanders.

The Treaty was a contract of respect between the British and Maori.

The Treaty now means there must be respect between maori and non maori.

It is important that the laws and rules today consider and respect both maori

and non maori ways of living.

Extra Facts:

Maori gives the crown an exclusive right to buy lands they wish to sell and

in return, are guaranteed full rights of ownership of their lands, forest , fisheries ,

and other possessions.

It took four months to collect about 500 signatures. Hobson declared British

sovereignty over Aotearoa New Zealand on 21st of May 1840. He did this before

consulting the British Government. Hobson then told the British Government that

all rangatira in the North Island agreed to the Treaty.

Snowplanet Recount

 Snowplanet Trip

After a very long hot bus ride we finally arrived at our destination, the Snowplanet at Silverdale . As I stepped out the bus there it was, I had felt the coldness going throughout my body.

I looked at the building and I was so shocked because it was so steep. We sat down right in front of the Snowplanet and got told to have a little snack. When we finished eating we got told to enter the building and start lining up to get our boots.

As I was putting on my boots it was so hard, so I started stomping as hard as I could so that my big feet could go in. “CLASH” there it goes. My feet have entered the boot. As I was finished putting on my boots I went and helped my other friends. When we were done putting on our boots, we headed over to the other side and got our helmets.

We were finally done getting ready, so then we entered through the beautiful entry and “WOW” it was hell of a view. We entered and started tubing. I had loads of fun going down the rails. I had so much fun I was screaming like “FIRE”.

We played some more and that was the end. I wish to go again.

How To Make Your Own Compost

How to make your own compost

A compost is a place where you could
collect all your scraps that you have
in your house. Compost is rich in nutrients.
It is used for example, in gardens
, landscaping and organic gardening

Making a compost First, you are going
to find a simple spot to put your compost.

Once you have found a place, you can
collect soil with worms so that the
worms can moist the soil...

Once you have all your soil you build
your bin or buy one for your compost.

Now that you have bought you a
compost bin you take all the soil
and then layer it and add leaves.

Finally you put everything
together, collect scraps then
put them into a compost.

Once your scraps are in the
compost you now have a full
on compost.

Hope you enjoy making your own compost.

How I Felt Like Coming To School After Lock Down

How I felt like coming to school after lock down.
I felt very different because there were a lot of
hand sanitizes all over the places and also not that
many people in the classes. It was very weird because
every time when I go to school I would hug my
friends but this time I can’t because there are also
a lot of teachers around and you have to keep
your distancing.

The Covid 19 has affected us strongly.
The death of Covid 19 in New Zealand is 21
and the people who recovered from Covid 19
are 1,442 and the people that have been
confirmed are 1,153. It has affected New Zealand
badly.

Treasure Hunt

This week was book week. There was a beautiful play performed in our school hall on Tuesday.

The play was about the Treasure hunt that has been written by Craig Christie.

There were two tribes living on an island. These two tribes blamed each other for stealing each
other song. The tree land tribe was led by George and the sea view tribe was led by Jessica. These
two character teamed up to solve the problem about the lost treasure that was a song.

The problem was solved when they were able to put the torn map together and work out how to get
to the treasure. They had to read three different books to solve the problem.

I really enjoyed this play because both the characters were very smart and talented.
They sang very well and were also very hilarious.

Thank you Sam and Lidia for coming to our school. I hope to see you again next year.Image result for treasure hunt by Craig Christie
